Ready for spring! Last year we did a regular garden- just used the tiller and made several rows on the far side of the house. Some plants did good, others did not. The soil is horrible and it was almost impossible to keep up with the weeding. So this year we are doing raised garden beds. This way we can bring in good soil and we're going to mulch around the plants. So the weeding shouldn't be too bad. I'm going to do my tomatoes in pots on the back porch. Keeping the cats off will be the hard part. I don't remember the plant I loved last year, but I'll know it when I see it. It looked like a little tree. The trunk was really thick and the tomatoes were delicious. I know we'll do squash again and okra again, and some cantalope, bell peppers and banana peppers.

So yesterday Lee started building the beds and I started raking out my flowerbed in the front. Now I can see my little plants again. I need to transplant some monkey grass from the back of the house to my front bed. I plant mostly perinials so I don't have to spend a bunch every year. I just add a little more every year and they keep coming back more and more. My yellow forsythia bushes are budding and have just a few blooms. They are always the first blooms of the year. When they get all bloomed the whole bush is just yellow blooms- no leaves or anything. And I noticed the mulberry tree has started to get the little nobby buds on it. Sunday night we heard frogs and crickets again.Good Warm weather is only about 8 weeks away!

We really need to get out and do some gardening. My flower beds are atrocious. Maybe this weekend I'll have time...
