Movies

I have watched a couple movies this week that are total chick flicks....... so don't try to make a husband endure them: I just thought I'd share. The first was Mansfield park, based on the book by Jane Austen. It wasn't a mainstream film. I think it was a bbc, but I enjoyed it. Not as much as sense and sensibility or pride and prejudice, but I'm glad I watched it. I'm not a reader of Jane Austen. I enjoy the movies based on her novels, but I have a hard enough time understanding the wording in a movie. I could never make it through reading one and understanding what is going on. So this is the only way I will ever know anything about her novel, Mansfield park. The other was The importance of being earnest. definitely a female only one, but a good one to watch if you are in the mood for a funny, romantic and quirky movie. Reece witherspoon is in it. I was very surprised. I don't remember this movie back in 2002 at all. Anyway, it was cute. It is set in the same style of Jane Austen. With all of the'proper' English women.
I am so impressed with netflix! They are so much faster than the intelifilx I used years ago. I put The importance of being earnest in the blue mailbox in front of walmart yesterday when I went shopping around 1 pm. Well I got an email from the at 7:40 this morning that they already had received it and had my next movie shipping today! tada!

I recorded all the Jane Austen movies on PBS a while back (they were the BBC versions), and I really liked Mansfield Park. I think I actually still have it on the DVR...I haven't seen The Importance of Being Earnest, but I bet I'd like it too. I love movies set in that time period!
