spaghetti and healthcare.

I got home from work at about 9:30 this morning. Lee and I had to go get some lab work done for our biometrics with my insurance. If we didn't , I'd pay 50 dollars more per pay period. So we had height, weight, and blood drawn for HA1C, and lipids. Plus Bp checked. I was happy about mine. Last year mine was slightly elevated, but I clocked in at a cool low 101/62. I think that was pretty good for just coming off a 12 hour night shift and standing in line an hour. Actually I wouldn't want it much lower than that or I'd be getting checked out. The scales on the other hand......bluh. 156! Whatever, I had shoes on! and a badge....lol. So anyway, a nice free small checkup. I probably won't benefit much from the 50 dollar/pay period savings. I probably won't be insured by then anyway. I wish I could be but hopefully I won't working full time anymore. Speaking of that..... I watched the big speech tonight on the health care reform. Very entertaining. I wanted to laugh when the prez entered the room he had a huge really long standing ovation with cheering and such. Funny these same people were dogging him for the last few months. Anyway.........
I got up at 4 today. Longer than I wanted to sleep, but I needed that catch up I guess. It was rainy. I was in such a Donna Reed mode though! ( hopefully you know that show ) I wanted to bake and wash and take my time and cook a tasty supper. So I did. I SLOWLY made my spaghetti. It's so much better when you just put a little more time. Saute my own peppers and mushrooms and garlic for my sauce, and let the sauce simmer for a long time so the flavors really come out...... I chopped my banana peppers from the garden and soaked them in red wine vinegar for my salad. And it's so much better to put things into your salad rather than just pouring it out of a bag. Buy the leaf lettuce, use good Roma tomatoes, bell peppers from the garden, the soaked banana peppers, and of course the best : black olives. YUM! Don't forget salt and pepper - It DOES make it better. FOr dessert I made some brownies, not much talent goes into that. So yuumy though! I do find though. I actually eat less when I put a little extra time into my dishes and make them taste a little better than just blowing through it fast just to get something edible. I make it slower- I eat it slower because I appreciate it more. I get fuller before I can get seconds.:o) this is true.

So, are you cutting your hours or finding another job all together?

Your dinner sounds good! I haven't taken the time to make a slow-cooked, time-consuming dinner in a while...I need to do that soon!
